Film Poster Deconstruction
Paranormal Activity 3
•Typography
– looks like it’s come from an electrical appliance and this matches with the
theme of the film, as it was all shot on a regular camera.
•The
red, white and black is conventional of horror film film posters.
•The
image is not directly in the centre, but a little bit further up.
•The
image is also edited to have a blue hue to it, with a time code on the bottom
right hand side of the image, which shows that this was recorded on a camera.
•There
is a black shadow in the middle of the two beds, which shows the supernatural
presence in the room which matches it’s genre.
•There
is 2 short taglines, they both tell a really short and concise account of what
the film has to offer in terms of plot.
•The
two girls are sleeping which shows their vulnerability which is a convention in
supernatural horror.
The Conjuring
•This
is a exorcism film, so the font used is very archaic and gothic, which is
conventional as the the cathedrals and religious christian buildings are known for this type of
font.
•There
is the use of white, black and sepias, which gives it a dirty feel, and that
the spirit is something that is old.
•The
girl is placed just below centre and a little bit to the left.
•The
main title is placed at the bottom of the poster, and the tagline is placed
directly underneath it.
•The
genre of the film is obviously supernatural, due to the little girl that is
turned away from the audience with a creepy doll that is sat on her lap and the
use of the colour
scheme of sepia also enhances the ghostly effect.
Jennifer's Body
•The
typography is in the style of a typical high school basketball team font, which
is used widely for the numbers on the back of the basketball players shirts
which suggests that the film is in a high school setting. This is further
implied by the school desk where the actress is sitting on.
•The
image chosen is of a beautiful girl that is sitting on top of a desk with a
hand creeping out of the desk, which suggests that the genre is either
supernatural or slasher.
•There
is also a slight vignette around the image to show the darkness that is
surrounding the girl, and the dirty blackboards and walls compared to the clean
cut girl who is wearing very bold colours and clothing that exploits her sexuality.
•The
girl is placed in the middle of the poster.
•The
main title is right at the bottom of the poster with the tagline just above it
in a smaller font.
•They
use the conventional colours of
red, white and black in the poster.
•The
target audience is of young teenagers
who are of high school age due to the setting being in a school.
Bittersweet
•The
typography is very wispy and smokey which mimics the birthday candle at the
bottom of the poster, which shows that there is a theme.
•This
poster makes use of the conventional colours of black, white and reds for horror
movies.
•The
main focal point is the cake which is at the bottom of the page with a girl
that appears in the middle of the page holding the cake.
•The
main title is at the top of the poster with the tagline being at the far right
hand side
•The
photo suggests a slasher
film, as there is no supernatural presence around the girl.
Dead Footage
•The
typography all cracked, which mirrors the destruction that is happening in the
background
•The
arms that are coming from the top left hand corner suggests that this is a
zombie apocalypse film.
•The
main title is at the bottom of the poster, and the tagline is directly below it
and it follows the same colour
scheme of the main title of red and white.
•The colour
scheme of the background photo is very dull black and grey colours.
The
camera is placed on the bottom half of the poster which draws your attention
towards it, and the hands are coming from the top left hand corner with the
destruction of London in the background with St Pauls cathedral in the middle
