Sound Practical
- I decided to experiment with atmospherical sounds for our media piece, right from the beginning of the project, because we found during our As level, that it was extremely hard to do the music right at the end and trying to fit the music with the cuts.
- I only wanted to do a short piece, as we weren't entirely sure what our trailer would be based on. The only thing that we were definite about, was that it would be a horror genre.
- Instead of using the Logic Pro 9's presets, I used another AU engine, called Alchemy, which is free of charge.
- I used one of their soundscapes, which created the thunder noise in the middle of the motif. This could be the queue to one of the production company's cut scene.
- I also used a compressor to lift the volumes up and to compress the larger signals, so that it is more even.
- I also used a bit of automation, so that when the different instruments entered, it wouldn't be a sudden start but it would slowly ease in, with the volume being automated by Logic.
- I used a few nature sounds aswell, to give it a sort of ambience and suspense.
- After I had finished, I bounced the file as an mp3.
Here is the finished product:
