Captions in Trailers

The Blair Witch Project

Within this trailer, there is one set of captions which say "In October of 1994, three student filmmakers disappeared in the woods near Burkittsville, Maryland while shooting a documentary. A year later their footage was found".

This is then followed by release time as well as the title of the trailer paired with a nice transition in order to add a scare effect.

Ritual

There are three titles that appear during this trailer. They explain the the ritual carried out during the film in so bad that it is considered worse than death. This builds suspense and worry within the audience and forces them on the edge of their seat.

The final title to appear is the title of the film itself. This is paired with a loud deep noise that makes the audience jump - forcing them to remember the name of the film.

Jessabelle

The titles that appear here are the other films that the production company have produced. This works well as it gives the audience a sense of the genre of the film that they may/may not want to watch.

The titles then begin to build suspense within the audience - forcing them to become scared/worried. Words such as secrecy, curse and grave add fear to the trailer.

The final titles to appear are the release time for the film and the official title of the film - this gives the audience all the information that they need in order to watch the film.
