Wound Deconstruction

Paranormal Activity

There are a few wounds that feature within the film however, only one wound is featured within the trailer itself. It is a bruise that is placed on the left side ribs. This has obviously been done with professional make up however, as there will only be quick flashes of our wounds, we could achieve a very similar effect with eyeshadow or face paint.

Cabin in the Woods

Again, this film has very few wounds featured in the trailer, however there are more within the film. In this screenshot there is a scene where the final girl is covered in blood, but due to the fact it is dark, the blood appears to be black. This means that the colour of the blood didn't need to be 100% accurate. Therefore, as our trailer is going to be in the dark, that we might not need to focus on this completely. However, we will try to get it as close as possible.

The Purge

This trailer is proof that the less is more when it comes to blood and wounds. The only major wound/blood that you see in this trailer, is a bit of blood that is flicked onto the dress of one of the villains. This works well as it adds to the reality of the film.

In conclusion, it appears that less blood is more. It becomes more effective if there are small flashes or wounds of blood. This is due to the fact that a lot of blood would make the trailer appear to be a slasher film. Therefore we will keep it minimalistic in order to keep it in theme with out Supernatural Horror Genre.
