When we filmed out found footage piece, we noticed that the lighting wasn't quite right for a horror film - it was too bright and picturesque for that specific genre. Therefore I uploaded the shot into Final Cut Pro and edited the lighting and effects over the top.
Here is the original footage that we shot:
At first, I had to remove the pauses at the beginning and the end of the shot. This made it more realistic as there was not a long pause and freeze frame either side of the clip. I hit blade and the selected where I wanted to cut the clip shorter. I then hit "DEL" on the keyboard with removed the unwanted footage from the timeline.
The footage didn't look particularly like found footage due to the quality of Chloe's camera, therefore I added a few effects over the top of the clip in order to "rough it up" a little bit. I added "Bad TV" in order to give the footage an older look, as well as add a slight shake to the footage which makes it appear light someone who is unprofessional is holding the camera.
I did, however, feel the need to reduce the amount of Bad TV effect over the clip as it was unrealistic as well as shaking too much which made the footage appear as though an effect had been placed over the top.
Following this, I added a camcorder effect over the top in order to place a slight framing and to make it appear more like a home video that a professional shot as we plan on changing between the two different styles within our trailer.
Finally, as it was still a little light within the clip, I reduced the exposure of the shot in order to darken it down a little as well as to reduce the brightness and vibrancy of the sun rays hitting the trees in the background.
Here is the final footage:
