Making Sound
- I wanted to try experimenting with making our own sound for the trailer.
- I used the programme, Logic Pro 9, and a midi keyboard controller to input the sounds.
- A lot of deep bass sounds were layered above each other to create the desired bass, I also wanted to go for a deep droning sound aswell.
- There is an ongoing drone throughout the piece, which is then layered by upper strings, which during the climax at the end, comes in.
- Some gated synths were used, to add some pulses into it, and this also gradually increases as the piece reaches it's climax.
- I used the different EQs to maxmise the bass sounds in the drums and in the bass, because I really wanted it to send vibrations through the speakers, as this would create an uncomfortable sound.
- I used a reverse cymbal, where I played the cymbals, and then manually reversed it, after converting it into an audio sound. This plays throughout the piece and gradually gets louder.
Here is the finished product:
Conclusion
I still need to master this, so that it is louder and the bass really comes through. I also need to check that it fits with our trailer, and that the edits fits to it, because it may be too slow for the type of trailer that we are making.
