Nothing Left to Fear Deconstruction

Nothing Left to Fear Deconstruction

  • This is an establishing shot of the house of the main family of the film.
  • It is an important shot, because this is where the main plot will take place, and where all the events will happen.
  • The weather is very sunny, which reflects the happy atmosphere of the family moving in, but it is also sinister, due to the impending doom.

  • This is where the non diegetic music starts to get sinister, and where the bass drops because you know that something is about to go wrong.
  • This is framed, so that the window bars are out of focus and the focus is on the guy that is standing outside the window. This suggests that you are looking through something or you are hiding, so this shows that this character has seen something that she shouldn't have seen.v

  • It then cuts to a a title which shows the typography, and it reveals some background to how they came up the story. By adding some background, it makes the story seem more scary as it could happen in real life.

  • In this screenshot's framing, there is a looming figure to the right shows the impending doom that is about to come.

  • This is a very short cut, which shows something that is non human opening it's eyes as the music starts to build up the suspense in the trailer.
  • It is a close up shot.

  • The first jump in the trailer, and this shows a demonic hand grabbing one of the protagonist's arm, which is followed by a straight cut, so you don't find out what happens and leaves it to the actual film.

  • This is the last scene of the trailer, and it shows a clearly possessed woman.
  • This is convention to put the biggest jump or the biggest scare at the end of a trailer to spark interest for the audience to watch it.
  • The entity's facial expression is inhuman and is extremely pale with a black mouth and this is conventional as horror movies usually use the colour scheme of red, black and white.

  • Instead of having just instrumental non diegetic music, there is a person singing the words of the title in a chilling way.
  • The title slowly fades from black and it flickers on and off before fully disappearing.
  • There is use of different sizes of fonts to make the title more interesting aswell.
