In this trailer, there are five individual victims, all of which conform to the conventions of horror films.
These 5 victims are very similar to that of other horror films. We have the typical Jerk (who thinks he knows better than everyone else), the sexualised female (who is willing to use sex to get what she wants), the comedian (who makes jokes before he realised how serious things are), the chatterbox (who doesn't stop talking) and the final girl (the female virgin who survives to the end).
Most horror films tend to have victims who are teenagers - The Cabin In The Woods has 5 victims who are teenagers and therefore; it conforms to conventions of the horror genre.
Cabin Fever: Patient Zero
Again, this film involved 5 victims - 3 boys and 2 girls, who have very similar characteristics as those from The Cabin in the Woods - The jerk, the sexualised female, the comedian, the chatterbox and the final girl. These victims are all teenagers/young adults which makes it easier for the audience to relate too.
Jessabelle
Jessabelle is based entirely around a female victim who's mother died and is being haunted by a presence. Unlike the other two films, there is only one victim in this film - however; I believe it makes the film scarier and more relatable due to the fact when you're alone, it is impossible to know whether you are truly alone or not.
