Radio Diegetic Sound Practical
- In our trailer, we wanted the diegetic sound of a radio, which provides the background to the film.
- There dialogue that we used was:
"Due to the recent occurrences, where several people have mysteriously disappeared inside, the police and experts are strongly advising the public to stay away from the woods."
- I used Logic Pro 9 to edit the sound, after recording it in a recording studio, using a condenser mic.
- I duplicated the recording into two tracks, to show the difference between the original and the newly edited one.
- I brought up the compressor from the effects tab, and I compressed the sound and brought the makeup gain up.
- The compressor makes the recording sound more level, so that there isn't a large difference between the quieter and the loudest sounds.
- Here is the compressor that I used to compress the sound, and the ratio of the compressor is at 6.1 and the gain is only at 1.5db, because the gain was already set quite high during recording.
- To make it sound more like a radio, than a podcast, I cut off the lower and the higher frequencies, and I boosted some of the middle frequencies to make up for the loss of sound.
Here is the finished sound:
