Deliver Us From Evil
"Deliver Us From Evil" is a very unusual title as it contains more than 3 words. However, it follows codes and conventions by including a reference to Evil. This means that the audience can get a small understanding of what the film is about before they even watch the trailer. In addition to this, they use a collective identity in order to make the film appear more realistic and scarier. By saying "Us" they are including the audience in the horror that they are unknowingly going to face shortly. This works well as it adds a sense of reality to the film for the audience.
The Marked Ones
"The Marked Ones" is a supernatural horror, however this isn't reflected within the title. Although it is part of a set of 5 films, the typography is recognised by its main audience, therefore they know what the film is before watching it. The 3 word title adds tension to the film and puts the audience on the edge of their seat. Again, they use a collective identity "ones" in order to include the audience. It makes the audience question whether they are a marked one? The title, however, doesn't reflect the supernatural horror genre.
The Devil Inside
"The Devil Inside", again is a three word title which reflects its supernatural horror genre through the word "devil". Most films that have biblical and evil references tend to be supernatural horror films. This title doesn't include a collective identity however, it makes the audience question the idea that if there is a devil inside one specific person, what is stopping it jumping into other people. This builds tension for the audience and creates a good basis for the trailer and film to follow.
